"This wine is made from grapes grown in Puglia, southern Italy, a climate so hot, arid and drenched in sunshine that it’s rare to find wines as full bodied as this fruity driven red with such modest alcohol as 12.5%. This makes for a medium bodied style which is still rich in fruit flavour - blueberries and wild berries give this stunning red its southern Italianesque style. Despite its fruity flavours, it’s dry in style and incredibly flavoursome. Great value for money." - 4/5 Stars, Joelle Thomson, Wine Writer
"Pugliese, perfect with Pepperoni. Whether your having a charcuterie board before dinner or a pepperoni pizza as the main event, this is the perfect juicy and jammy Italian for you. A big blend of Merlot and Negroamaro (a native of Puglia in Italy’s ‘boot’) it’s filled with everything from ripe Doris plums, blueberry, mixed spice and fresh green herbs. Its NV which may seem strange but allows the winemakers to create a consistent blend year after year, if you’re looking for value for money you’ve come to the right place! Drink now." - Wine Central Tasting Panel
A pizza-perfect Merlot blend! This Merlot / Negroamaro blend from the heel of Italy's boot is fun, vibrant and full of life. Merlot (65%) brings berry fruits to the party with the Negroamaro (35%) adding complexity, dark fruits and a touch of spice. Great with pepperoni pizza.
Sam Kim, Wine Orbit "It is brightly fruited showing dark plum, blueberry, mixed spice and toasted nut characters on the nose. The palate is succulent and nicely weighted, and delivers appealing fruit flavours together with subtle savoury complexity, well framed by fine tannins, finishing delicately dry. The wine is friendly and very easy to enjoy."
17/20, Raymond Chan "Dark, deep, ruby-red colour with black hues and lighter purple tints on the rim. The nose is elegantly proportioned with up-front ripe aromas of dark-red plums and savoury red berry fruits along with subtle notes of dark herbs and earth. Dry to taste and medium-bodied, the palate possesses flavours of sweet dark red plums and savoury berry fruits entwined with subtle notes of herbs and earth. The palate is juicy, unfolding suggestions of plum jam and liquorice, and is enlivened by bright acidity with light tannin extraction providing background support. The fruit is carried to a lingering, lush finish with balancing grip. This is an elegant, up-front, sweet-fruited Puglia red with lively plum and red berry flavours and light textures. Serve with antipasto, tapas and Mediterranean cuisine over the next 2-3 years. A blend of 65% Merlot and 35% Negroamaro, from Brindisi, hand-picked and cool-fermented in tank to 12.5% alc. Winemaker: Simone Cortese."
