Imagine this – it's 1962 in Puglia, southern Italy, and a small group of men meet to talk about bringing their knowledge of the land, and their passion for wine together to create something fantastic. And so, Cantine di Sa n Marzano was born. Today the cooperative works with over 1000 growers from across the region, to produce wines in a traditional Apulian style using modern techniques. Grapes for this 100% Negroamaro are grown in San Marzano, 100m above sea level on soft, rocky and clayey soils. Once picked they’re vinified and aged for 6 months in French oak. The Talo is made to last at least 5 years, and is laced with black-currants and spice, as well as balsamic and vanilla notes.
Deep purple red with violet reflections; intense and persistent aroma, with black-currant and wild fruit scent, spicy, with balsamic and vanilla notes. A full-bodied wine, soft and balanced, long and pleasantly flavoured in the end. Drink with anything meaty or cheesy, delish!
